This has been my view for the past 2 weeks.
For those who don’t know, I really love what I do. Though, as with any job, there are times when I am less than pleased with the career that I have chosen. Sometimes I want nothing more than to work in a coffee shop. When the biggest stress in my day is when I run out of skim milk. When the hardest questions I am asked are of the “do you have any splenda?” variety.
This would be one of those times. It also doesn’t hurt that I really love coffee.
Good friends and a good view. Happy 4th of July from Southampton!!!
Just after sunset I kicked off my fancy shoes on the beach and took this photo. As beautiful as this is, it barley does justice to the home we visited this weekend in Southampton We were at a benefit to raise money and awareness for Phoenix House, a youth rehab facility.
For those who were concerned about my wardrobe choice, rest assured, the ensemble was perfect. Apparently “Hampton Sheik” means pretty much anything. There were people in jeans, suits, dresses, even a man in a bright yellow cape.
Aside from the great wine, food, beautiful surroundings, and Ted’s family, the not so celebrity sightings were the highlight of the evening. The first was Real Housewife of NY Jill Zarin and her husband Bobby. Jill was reporting for LXTV. She looked very good in a very tight black dress, she must have been wearing some serious spanx. While husband Bobby was as adorable as ever and sported bright blue pants with shoes to match, seriously. Jill’s cast mates The Countess Luanne De Lesepps, Kelly Bensimone , and that other lady were also in attendance along with Randy Jackson, Nick Cannon, some local news anchors, Billy Joel’s ex-wife Katie Lee, and of course J-Wow and Vinnie from The Jersey Shore cast. With all that talent, or lack there of, our favorite sighting of the night had to be a man named Court who some of you may know from his hysterical cameo on The Real Housewives of NY. I actually followed him around the space for a bit. Unable to look away from his glorious blonde locks, I will admit I snapped a few pics. I decided not to post them, but for those who are curious, they are just an email away J
The fun did not end there. Apparently Ted and I are on the same social schedule as The Countess. We spotted her and her new man in the same restaurant as us for Brunch the next day. It was a wonderful weekend in a beautiful place with great company.
This may look like just a regular old shoe. Well, it’s not. This shoe was a ray of sunshine in an otherwise cloudy week…eh, month. Here’s the back-story. Ted and I are going to a fancy event this weekend in Southampton. How fancy you ask? Let’s just say Randy Jackson is going to be there. Not MJs brother, the other one. Ha. I never know what to wear to these things, so Joycee and I went shopping. I found the most adorable and perfectly fancy dress at Loehmann’s (of course). Now, no dress comes without it’s own set of issues. In this case, it’s the color. Two shades of silvery pewter. Very pretty, very summery, very hard to match. If you’ve ever been shopping for something specific in NYC you know that it can be quite tiring and quite time consuming. Thankfully my lack of employment these days allowed me the time to search east, west, north and south for the perfect fancy footwear. This took 3 days, about a million subways, and 10 stores. To add insult to injury, it’s 90 degrees in the city this week. I found the perfect shoe at Nine West on 46th st. only to be told that there are no more in my size in the right color in all of New York. But did I give up?! No I did not! When I finally arrived at Nine West on 5th avenue, I was a broken spirit. I was about to accept defeat when I spotted this gem barely peeking out on the back corner shelf. The odds of this being my size were slim to none. I turned it over, in slow motion and nearly fainted when I read the 6 1/2 on the bottom. I grabbed a sales person and exclaimed I’ll take it!! It was all very dramatic. When she returned from the back room empty handed I was heart broken. Apparently they had lost the matching shoe to the floor sample. Someone was sent to the other storage room to double check, but it was not looking good. I sat alone with my one shoe, and my thoughts for what seemed like hours. To my delight, my new nine west friend reappeared 10 minutes later with my shoe. The diligent employee had found it hiding in a size 7 box. And it was 50 % off! The moral of the story is, don’t give up on your dreams. Believe me, I am aware that it’s sad that right now my dreams involve pewter shoes, but that’s where I’m at. Don’t judge me!! J
On this cold, rainy day in Brooklyn it was quite hard to find the motivation to leave the house. But after a little bit of Wii Fit a hearty healthy sandwich was on the brain. So a quick trip to the store later and this was the deliciousness then was created. Now, this may look like your average BLT, but that is an extreme understatement. It might be one of the better things Ted and I have put together. Instead of mayo, we used Dijon mustard…yum. Instead of just three ingredients, we added low sodium turkey breast for a little extra protein and flavor…wow. And finally, instead of regular old bacon, we used handcut pancetta from Brooklyn Larder which was coated in whole garlic cloves and rosemary (http://www.marthastewart.com/article/brooklyn-larder)…amazing.
So basically, this was the perfect sandwich, looked good, tasted great, was pretty cheap, and pretty healthy (bacon is healthy, I don’t care what anyone says).
Now it just needs a name…my vote is for PJT, for Pancetta, Jenny, Ted. But I see how this can be confused with a Peanut Butter, Jelly and Toast :)
Have you filled out your 2010 Census? I have! Don’t feel bad if you haven’t. I only did it because Ludacris told me too. Yes, it’s true, Luda, aka Chris Bridges, is on a mission. This time his mission is not to find Hoes in different area codes, but rather to teach both Hoes and Bros that filling out your Census is quick, safe, and an all around good idea. So get to it! And honestly, if you don’t they are just going to keep sending it to you, so you may as well get it over with.
Check out this moment with me and my friend Luda. Keep in mind our convo was about 3 minutes long. I swear I was witty and funny, they just didn’t use it!
Watch the whole thing, or just go to 3:35 in to see me :)

On a recent trip to Boca Raton my mother discovered this photo of her and my father hidden in a broken frame on my grandparents old breakfront (that’s what they called the wall unit in the living room). Though my parents have not been together in years, she realized I would enjoy this nostalgic, super 70s pic of my folks so she framed it for me as a gift. When she put it in my hands she said “For you with Lots of Love.” My mom, who can barely send a text, bought it because it said LOL. When I told her what it meant these days she said she didn’t care, to her it will always be Lots of Love. I LOLd )
